WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT
Call Danbury Auto Body immediately, 203-797-1903.
If your car is not driveable we will make arrangements to have it towed to the shop.
We will help you decide whether or not to file a claim and what type of claim to file. It is important to keep your insurance record clean and one way to do that is to decide whether or not you should file a claim. It doesn’t matter if the accident is your fault or not. You should first ask yourself if you can pay for the damage out of your own pocket without financial hardship. If you can, do not file the claim. If you or any of your passengers are injured as a result of the accident, we recommend that you contact an attorney first.
If you decide to file an insurance claim file the claim as soon as possible with your insurance company. Even if the accident is not your fault your insurance company will handle the claim process as your advocate.
Prepare for a possible call from the other insurance company. If there is a dispute between the parties involved in the accidents you may get a call from the other driver’s insurance company asking for your version of what happened at the scene of the accident. If this happens, make sure you document everything you say and the name of the customer service agent you spoke with. If you have hired an attorney consult your attorney before making any comments to the other driver’s insurance company.
If you have body damage to your vehicle you may get it fixed at the repair facility of your choice once your claim has been approved.
If you are eligible for car rental reimbursement while your vehicle is in the repair shop, ask for our assistance in arranging for your rental. Car rental costs may be handled financially between the rental company and the insurance company.
